| On a visit to San Francisco in 1994, I found a couple of xeroxed pages of comics stapled to telephone poles. They were not exactly funny, and seemed to be about people who drank "funny water" and then behaved strangely. I admired their exuberant spirit. When I got home, I wrote to the address that was on one page, telling the cartoonist how much I enjoyed the comics, and enclosed a few dollars, asking for any more that were available. I received in return an envelope containing nine pages of Funny Water and one of Funny Water Presents Pieces of Life, along with this cover sheet. Here they all are for your reading pleasure, fraught with timely pop culture references and an unconquerable joie de vivre. |
